Christopher Kogge has won a job competition because he was the best at selling a loaf of stale bread. The Oakland, NJ, resident came in first in a copywriting contest sponsored by Words and Pictures Creative Service, an award-winning marketing and advertising agency in Park Ridge. Kogge won a position as a full-time intern at the agency, with the potential for permanent placement.

The competition was open to beginning copywriters and was advertised at colleges and job placement sites. Job applicants were asked to come up with a campaign to market a stale loaf of bread. Kogge’s concepts had many off-beat and tongue-in-cheek suggestions for ways to use the bread—including as a doorstop and as a way to get rid of unwanted guests. Read more

Out of more than 5,000 submissions from 24 countries, Words and Pictures, a marketing and advertising agency in Park Ridge, NJ, has won a Gold and Silver in the 2014 Summit Creative Award competition. The awards were made for the agency’s creative work on launching a new product, SpellBrite LED Signage System.

According to agency president Rhonda Smith, “Winning two Summit Awards is a wonderful honor, and we’re thrilled to be chosen. But our real goal was to do the best job we could for SpellBrite, and these awards celebrate that.” Read more
